Learning About the Nikon D3100

This video is useful in terms of cinematography and the potential the Nikon D3100 has. This provided me with ideas for potential shot compositions and I have rented a Nikon just so I can practice with changing the settings, especially for mood lighting and contrast levels; because we will be working by artificial light during the day and candlelight during the evening so I need to know how to film them both perfectly.

This has been really helpful in my practice with the Nikon D3100. Our director, Chris Berry sent me a link to it, so that I can teach myself how to use it before we film on the day. I feel much more confident in adjusting the settings and I am happy with using the "Neutral" setting on the camera, however, this is subject to change. On the day, we will be using this camera along with a Canon XF100 so we can get plenty of footage on the days. This also means we can achieve a clear, crisp sound by attaching the Audio Technica microphone into the Canon XF100 whilst I focus on close up shots of Michael Phoenix working and some pull-focus shots of the objects in Michael's studio.
